Ingredients

Serves : 3
  • 200 gram fine whole wheat flour


  • 100 gram fresh curd/yougurt


  • 4 tablespoon finely chopped coriander leaves


  • 1.5 teaspoon turmeric powder


  • 1.5 teaspoon red chilli powder


  • 1.5 teaspoon salt


  • 0.5 teaspoon baking/cooking soda


  • 1/2 cup water


  • 4 tablespoon oil

Directions

  • Place he flour in a large mixing bowl and add salt and curd to it
  • Mix well to create a thick slurry by adding some water
  • Let the batter rest for 10-15 minutes covered
  • Post the resting period, heat a non stick pan
  • Add chopped coriander, soda and dry spices to the batter
  • Add more water this time and make a smooth flowing(pancake like) batter
  • Add a laddful of the batter in the center of the preheated pan and turn the pan around to spread the batter sligtly
  • Cook till both sides are slightly brown and crisp by adding a bit of oil to the sides of the cheela
  • Take off heat and serve hot with your favourite chutney or sauces
  • Roll the cheelas into a roll if packing for kid’s lunchbox/ serve it warm for breakfast
  • my tip: 1 or 2 chopped green chillies can be added to this recipe to increase the spice levels. but since this recipe is for kid’s it’s deliberately avoided
